Today proceed to Mahablipuram (1.5hrs drive), it lies on the Coromandel Coast which faces the Bay of Bengal. This is an elegant place to watch which a well-established sea port was during the 7th and 10th centuries of the Pallava dynasty. Spend the remaining day at leisure.
Full day to relax and visit some famous UNESCO monuments such as Arjuna’s penance, Shore Temple, Five Rathas, Krishna’s butterball , Ancient monuments, historic temples for their unique sculptures, the culture and tradition of the natives and so on. Today you will head to Pondicherry (2.5hrs drive), which stands as a living monument of the French culture in India. On reaching check in to hotel and relax. Spend the remaining day at leisure to explore on your own interest.
Full day to relax and sightsee Pondicherry. Auroville, which is a Universal Town where people from different nationalities, faiths and beliefs, can live in peace and harmony. Relax in the morning and start drive to Tanjpre (5hrs drive), on the way visit Gangaikonda Cholapuram Temple, which is an architectural work of genius. In the early 11th century, the temple got built by Rajendra Chola, who was the son and successor of Rajaraja Chola. The temple is renowned for having the biggest Shivalingam in the Southern part of India. At Darasuram you will see the temple and the grandeur of Chola architecture. This is a well presented temple considering it was built in the 12th century AD. Here you can see the musical stone stairs that produce a metallic sound like a xylophone when struck.
