The ride today offers peaceful country lanes and quiet roads that pass through local villages and along canals. Stop at Cai Be where you will have lunch in a French colonial styled villa then continue the cycle journey toward Vinh Long.
Take a morning boat ride to explore the bustling Cai Rang floating market. Stop at a local orchard to taste juicy tropical fruit, then pedal along the river bank. On the ride to Soc Trang, the centre of the Khmer religion, you will see many Khmer pagodas along the way.
Transfer to the Can Tho ferry, pick up your cycles and enjoy riding along the bank of the Hau River to Sa Dec. Cycle through country lanes, paddy fields and bamboo villages. In Sa Dec visit the riverside market, old houses, the French villas of colonial times and historic temples and pagodas.
Start riding on small riverside routes dotted with old houses, temples, pagodas and churches, to a flower village. Once in Xeo Quyt, a small boat will take you into the forest where vestiges of an army base can still be seen. Overnight in Cao Lanh.
On your final cycling day, ride on a country lane to Gao Giong Eco-Tourism Park, a vast green oasis of water flowers. Take a boat ride to visit the Gao Giong bird sanctuary before returning to Saigon by bus. Farewell dinner at local restaurant.
Went on a day cycle trip to the Cu Chi Tunnels, opting for something different rather than the run-of-the-mill coach tours from central Saigon. This tour left the city in a premium van and stopped on the outskirts of the city in a lovely village setting, and we rode all the way to the tunnels, stopping at various scenic points along the way. When I booked this I couldn't find much on the internet about Indotrek. However, their service was so fantastic during the inquiry/booking process that I went for it anyway. We were a group of 4, different level of cycling skills. The whole trip was excellent. From the start, Kim and Richard in the office gave us a wonderful service. Emails were replied to quickly and spot on. All the pre-travel arrangements were excellent. On arrival, we were met by our guide, Thang, who stayed with us up to Hue. Our driver was excellent. Both friendly and knowledgeable. We could cycle as much or little as we wanted each day which was great for our different skill levels. Hotels, on the whole, were better than we expected. From Hue we flew to Hanoi and finished the trip with an overnight on a boat in Ha Long Bay - that is a must do! Overall, brilliant service, brilliant value for money. Read more
Just back from a trip organised by Indotrek. We cycled South to North Vietnam. From start to finish Indotrek provided an excellent service. Prompt reply to emails, good information. The guides and drivers were great - the guides spoke good English. We had some wonderful days cycling off the beaten track. Just what we wanted. We were not interested in just main roads and high mileage. The trip they organized for us was perfect - we did what we wanted and saw some lovely villages and had great interaction with local people. Hotels were on the whole better than we expected.
