DELHI - AGRA (By Surface)

This morning, discover the history and heritage of Delhi, with a visit to Qutab Minar, a fine example of Indo-Islamic architecture. Then drive to the old part of the city, walking through the busy streets of Chandni Chowk, to Jama Masjid, the largest mosque in India. En route, drive past the splendid Red Fort, India Gate, President's House, Parliament House and other Government Secretariat Buildings of Lutyens Delhi. This evening embark on your drive to Agra, city of the world famous Taj Mahal. Upon arrival in Agra, check in to your hotel for overnight stay. Read more

Morning breakfast at hotel. After breakfast proceed to witness the surreal views of the Taj Mahal by sunrise. Step inside this eternal symbol of love and appreciate the intricate designs and symmetries that rhyme as a poem written in marble. Taj Mahal is an extravagant display of love, built by Shah Jahan in memory of his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal. After breakfast, embark on a leisurely drive to Jaipur - land of the Rajputs. Jaipur is an exuberance of colour, dance and traditional arts and crafts. Known, as the 'Pink City', Jaipur is home to ancient forts and palaces and is one of India's most well planned cities. JAIPUR

Morning after breakfast, begin your sightseeing tour with a visit to the Amber Fort, which was built in the 16th century. Here you ride an Elephant which will help you conquer the climb up the hill where the fort entrance situated. Afternoon visit the city palace complex, which include - a museum, an astronomical observatory Jantar Mantar (UNESCO) and the wind palace from the 18th century – Hawa Mahal. This palace with countless windows and balconies. King had built for his wife to be able to secretly observe the surrounding bustle of the city life around. JAIPUR - JODHPUR

Morning after leisurely breakfast drive to Jodhpur, a city surrounded by rock walls and seven gates and several bastions. Jodhpur is the second largest city of Rajasthan. The city was founded in 1459 by King Rao Jodha. The city is sometimes referred to as solar or blue city. Morning breakfast at hotel. Today you spend whole day in Jodhpur and discover its historic beauty. Start sightseeing by visiting the Mehrangarh Fort, which is located on a hill and thus dominates the town. Furthermore, you can expect a tour of the main palaces - Moti Mahal, Sheesh Mahal, Phool Mahal, Sileh Daulat Khan. Nearby is the monument of white marble - Jaswant Thada. Morning breakfast at hotel. After breakfast, departure to the town of Jaisalmer, located in the west in the Thar Desert. This desert fortress is the most beautiful of all the forts in Rajasthan State. Upon arrival at Jaisalmer, transfer to hotel, check – in. Overnight at Jaisalmer hotel.

JAISALMER

After breakfast you will be provided a tour of Jaisalmer. Jaisalmer is sometimes referred to as "the golden city", but it is a strength that is surrounded by massive walls. Visit the strength and Haveli (magnificent forts) in the old city. Will be followed by a walk through the winding streets of the town amid widespread strength. Eventually you look at the Jain temples situated in the fort. In the afternoon visit Gadisar Lake followed by a visit to Salim Singh Ki haveli. After an early breakfast, depart to the city of Bikaner, one of the main trade routes between Africa, West Asia and the remote east. The city is famous for its art and mainly due to the annual festival of camels, which takes place in January. It hosts camel races, camel can be seen dancing and other attractions. Hi Chandra, Yes we have had a great holiday, lots of travel but it would not have been possible to see so many interesting places without. The guides were all excellent but we can't remember their names. If you know who the guide was in Kolkata, he was very knowledgeable and was kind enough to buy us prints of some paintings in the Victoria Museum, now we are home and have a chance to appreciate them. Please pass on our thanks to him for his generosity and wish him well. Just for future reference the drive from Shimla to Amritsar is 9 hours (including 2 short wash room breaks and lunch). Not a problem but you may wish to revise the estimated timing of 6/7 hours. The drivers too were patient and excellent. The Oberoi hotels are so good you expect all hotels to be the same!
