Upon your arrival in Port Moresby, you will be met by Trans Niugini Tours staff and transferred to your Air Niugini flight Port Moresby to Mount Hagen. Upon arrival in Mount Hagen you will be transferred to Rondon Ridge. Mt. Hagen town is in the upper Wahgi Valley - a valley with some of the oldest evidence of agriculture in the world. A full day is spent birding on in the high altitude forests behind Rondon Ridge. Close by to the lodge are Macgregor's Bowerbird, the Brown Sicklebill, Stephanie's Astrapia and the Superb Bird of Paradise amongst many others. Transfer to Mt. Hagen airport. Fly by charter from Mount Hagen to Lake Murray. After arrival at Lake Murray you will be assisted to the lodge for lunch and then proceed on with a half day birding tour.
With over 154 species, Lake Murray has high diversity of birds, including several special birds that will be the highlight of your two full days of birding.
Lake Murray is one of the best bird watching areas in the Province. In addition to a host of migratory birds, several birds of paradise species, pelicans, hornbills, eagles, parrots and numerous other birds have been sighted. Transfer to the airstrip for your flight to Tari flying over some of the most rugged and impressive landscapes in the world. After arrival in Tari you will be transferred to Ambua Lodge. Ambua Lodge is an inspired mixture of local architecture, spectacular views and modest luxury off the beaten track. Located at 7000 feet (2100 meters) in the PNG Southern Highlands, homeland of the Huli clan with their human hair wigs adorned with colourful flowers.
