We offer you the Portuguese Way from Tui to Santiago de Compostela. Passing though the provinces of Pontevedra and A Coruña, we are facing a path with few landscapes and beautiful landscapes of the Galician coast. It should be noted that it is the second mos chosen option by the French Way.

Arrival at Tui

Begin the Portugese Way and after arriving at Tui, you will be able to enjoy the many charms of this town in the border with Portugal. Some of the most remarkable places are the International Bridge over the River Miño, the remains of the wal (12th Century), the Porta da Pía, the Cathedral of Santa Maria and the Diosecan Museum, the Chapel of San Telmo and the Convent of the nuns of the Order of St. Clare. Stage 1: Tui - O Porriño (18,7 km)

Breakfast in Tui. You will begin the route on this day of the Portugese Way towards O Porriño. Once you have arrived at this town, you can see the Town Hall, the "Botica Nueva", the Fountain of the Christ and the "Templete de San Luis". We also recommended you to taste the bread of O Porriño, famous for its flavour and texture. Read more

Stage 2: O Porriño - Redondela (15,2 km)

Breakfast in O Porriño and continue your Portugese Way. Arriving at Redondela, located on the end of the Estuary of Vigo, you will find a Roman Milestone. This is just a way of welcoming the pilgrim to the village, as you will also have the opportunity to visit many other places such as the pilgrims hostel, the house of Santa Teresa, the Convent of Vilavella or the Church of Santiago. In addition, you will be able to go for a lovely walk around the park of Alameda. Read more

Stage 3: Redondela - Pontevedra 15,5 km

Breakfast in Redondela. On this day you will arrive at the first city on Portuguese Way in Spain. Walking around the historic district of Pontevedra, you can visit the Sanctuary of the Pilgrim Virgin. Going though the "porta do Camiño", you will enter the Ferrería Square, a place full of bars and terraces, where you can also find the Convent of San Francisco. Close to this, you can see the Square of the Star, the House of the Faces, the Gardens of Castro Sampedro and the Provincial Museum. Read more

Stage 4: Pontevedra - Caldas (21,5 km)

Breakfast in Pontevedra. Next on the Portugese Way, apart from being the birthplace of the King Alfonso VII of León, Caldas represents a place of relaxation, as its therapeutic thermal baths are really famous. You can also take a stroll around the town and visit places like the Church of Santa Maria and the church of Santo Tomas Becket, or even the botanic garden. Read more

Stage 5: Caldas de Rei - Padrón 19,5 km

Breakfast in Caldas de Rei. Padrón is well-known for being the town where the lifeless body of St. James disembarked, in 44 AD. Amongst the places to visit, you have the church of Santiago, the Brigde of Santiago, the Fountain of Carmen, the Convent of Carmen and the House A Matanza (Museum House of Rosalía de Castro). From this area are also typical the peppers of Padrón. Read more

Stage 6: Padrón - Santiago (24,3 km)

Breakfast in Padrón. Ready for the last stage of your Portugese Way, you will leave Padrón heading to Santiago de Compostela. Once in Santiago, you will have the opportunity to see and endless amount landmarks. The main one is the Cathedral and the "Plaza del Obradoiro", but that does not mean those ar the only remarkable places, as it is also recommendable to take a stroll around the historic district, to taste the gastronomy and to visit some other iconic buildings such as "Hostal de los Reyes Catolicós", "Monasterio de San Martin Pinario" or "Pazo de Raxoi".
