Bali & Komodo

Climb mountains, practice yoga and visit Komodo dragons! This combination itinerary to Indonesia takes you away from Bali’s notorious crowds, into the beauty of some of the island's lesser-known gems and then to Komodo National Park. Here, you'll explore rich marine life, go on a Komodo trek, master challenging hikes and, of course, meet the parks' infamous inhabitants, Komodo Dragons. All activities from yoga classes to island hopping, included.

Welcome to Indonesia!

Your Bali and Komodo adventure starts here! Upon arrival at Bali’s Ngurah Rai International Airport, you will be met by your guide and transferred the short distance to Seminyak, Bali’s stylish and eclectic beach-side town. Depending on the time you arrive, you’ll have a chance to chill by the pool, take a wander down to the beach or sip a coconut and take in the atmosphere. This evening, we’ll meet at reception and head to a nearby beachfront restaurant for our first dinner together. We’ll have the chance to get to know each other over delicious Balinese cuisine. Unwind in Ubud

After a healthy and hearty breakfast, we’ll journey towards Ubud where we’ll kick off our day with a purification ritual. We’ll make our way to the quieter and lesser-known temple of Sebatu, where after leaving an offering at the temple, you’ll have the option of submerging yourself in the cool waters to wash away your sins, Balinese style. Next, we’re off to Bali’s famed rice terraces, but rather than exploring with hordes of other tourists, we’ll go off the beaten path to an area where we’ll take in the beauty and serenity of the terraces, minus the crowds. We’ll finish off the day with one of Ubud’s most popular activities – yoga! We’ll be taken through a series of poses to stretch out the muscles and clear the mind. You’ll sleep well tonight! Cooking up a storm

This morning, it’s time to embark on a culinary adventure, unlocking the secrets of authentic Balinese cooking. First, we’ll visit a local market to browse the stalls and haggle for the ingredients we need for our culinary creation. Then, we’ll visit a local family house with a garden kitchen to cook up a feast. Yum! We’ll get to know other better as we sit down and devour our creation. The rest of the afternoon is yours to explore Ubud. Enjoy a massage, watch the world go by in one of the cute coffee shops or chill out by the pool at our boutique hideaway. Read more

Peddling through Paddies

Fill up on breakfast this morning as we’re off on a two-wheeled adventure today. Led by our guide, we’ll cycle out of town and through the surrounding villages. We’ll explore the real Bali as we peddle through quiet back roads, lush forests, rice paddies and say hello to friendly locals. The route is mainly downhill and we’ll make plenty of stops along the way to explain what you're seeing – whether it’s learning how vanilla or tapioca is grown or joining a local ceremony. Afterward, we'll hop into our minibus and drive to our next destination, Kintamani, where we’ll check into our hotel overlooking Batur lake. Tonight, we’ll meet for a group dinner with mountain views and then head to bed early as we have an early start tomorrow. Read more

Spectacular sunrise

Wakey wakey! Today we’ll need to get up at around 2.30am as we’re hiking to the top of Mount Batur to see the sun come up. But, don’t worry, we’ll have a quick cup of coffee waiting for you before we set off. It will take two to three hours to reach the summit and the hike is challenging in parts, but we’ll help each other out along the way. It can be a little chilly at the top, so bring a jumper to put on as we wait for the spectacular sunrise over the volcanic caldera. After sunrise, we’ll take a different route back to the hotel where we’ll enjoy a breakfast of champions. After all that activity, our next stop today will be natural hot springs. Here we’ll relax and soak our tired muscles in a series of hot and cold pools. There’s also a stunning infinity pool overlooking Batur lake and Mount Batur itself. We’ll have time to relax and catch some rays before we have lunch and continue our journey. Read more

Enter the dragon

Today it’s all about the dragons as we jump aboard our private chartered boat and sail into Komodo National Park to visit Komodo dragons. Our first stop is Komodo Island where we will be accompanied by a ranger as we walk around the island looking for these legendary animals. Whilst sightings are never guaranteed as Komodo dragons live here in the wild, there’s a good chance we’ll see one. But, also keep your eyes peeled for water buffalo, monkeys and birds who also call this island home. After Komodo, we’ll hop back in the boat and make our way to Pink Beach where off-shore coral has given the sand its striking colour, Here we'll get out some mats and set up for an Indonesian-style picnic for lunch. There’ll also be time to relax on the beach, take a dip in the beautiful crystal-clear water and snorkel to see the colorful coral reefs. Our final stop of the day is Manta Beach and if we are lucky we will get to snorkel with enormous manta rays from the deck of the boat. Afterward, we'll head back to our resort where a hammock and beer will seem like the best way to end the day. Read more

Island hiking and beach BBQs

Today will be our second voyage out to sea to explore more of Komodo National Park. Our first destination is the stunning Kelor Island where you can relax on white sand beaches and enjoy the calm turquoise waters. Then, we’ll step up the pace by visiting Rinca Island which will give us the opportunity to get up close to enormous Komodo dragons. We’ll join a ranger for a Komodo trek around the island’s jagged hills and mangroves in search of these incredible creatures. Lunch today will be served on board our private vessel as we make our way towards Padar Island for our next adventure. We’ll hike to the top of one of the islands many hills to take in the sweeping panoramic views. It’s a challenging walk to the top, but the views are absolutely worth it. After the Komodo trek, our final destination for today is Sture Island where we will sit down to enjoy the last rays of the sun over a BBQ dinner – it doesn’t get much better than this. Read more
