Combining mountain gorilla & chimps trekking, boat-cruise safari and a village walk in Uganda with game-drives in Serengeti and Ngorongotro crater as well as meeting the Masai in Tanzania. We meet our tour guide and transfer to the hotel in Entebbe to relax and get ready for the adventure starting the next day.
Meet your guide and start off early from Entebbe for the journey to the home of the mountain gorillas. Be prepared for a long day in the car. Along the way you will make a stop by the equator for some photos and have lunch in Masaka or Mbarara depending on the time. Continue on to to Bwindi mountain Gorillas through the neck of the impenetrable forest. The journey offers some great views. Read more
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is the home to the forest giants that are cousins to human beings, the gorillas. Have an early breakfast before setting off for your gorilla trekking adventure with a specialized guide. Besides the gorillas this Impenetrable Forest is full of birds, butterflies and plant species plus forest hog, forest elephants, statungas and dikers. Enjoy the walk through the forest and spend one hour around the gorillas. After the gorilla trek your guide picks you and depending on the time you are back from trekking you drive to Queen Elizabeth national park. The aim is to spend the night at the edge of Queen Elizabeth national park, with an exciting drive there with chance of seeing baboons and other monkeys along the way as well as a the chance of spotting elephants from the lodge. We start the day with a village walk after breakfast. This walk takes you through the nearby village, walking through the plantations up to a beautiful crater lake. After lunch at the lodge we get ready for the Classic highlights on the 2hrs Boat cruise on the famous Kazinga channel. A 36kms long natural channel linking Lake George and Lake Edward. Here we can expect to see land and water Adapted Hippopotamuses Yawning and some slashing canines to each other and the National Geographical society Killing machine the Nile Crocodile gaping along the Banks ! Savannah version of Pigs the Warthog- Pumba of the award winning Lion King are a hallmark sign in this Animal home! Of Mamaland Uganda. Start the day with chimps trekking in Kalinzu forest. Here you go with a specialized guide into the forest to meet our close relatives the chimpanzees in their natural habitat. Enjoy the excitement of walking in the jungle and hopefully get great sightings. We then head back to the lodge for lunch before making the journey to the town of Mbarara where we spend the night. The aim this day is to drive southwards across the border to Tanzania and continue on to the town of Geita to spend the night. It is a long day in the car but you will have plenty to see from the windows.
From breakfast we travel for a few hours, and enter the Serengeti National Park from the less visited western gate, and you will marvel at the multitude of animal and bird life while journeying through this acacia-spotted savannah. Game sightings abound. We arrive at the in time to enjoy a respite from the dirt roads and heat of the day and enjoy a hearty lunch. Later on in the afternoon, as the animal kingdom comes alive, continue your search for the “Big 5″ – lion, leopard, buffalo, elephant and rhino – while taking in the vastness of the Serengeti plains heading for the lodge as the sun sets on this magnificent animal kingdom. After an early rise spend the morning exploring the vast Serengeti and we move from location to location in search of sometimes elusive game and visit a waterhole known for its Hippos and alligators. Visit the Masai Kopjes, airstrip area and then back to the heart of Serengeti.
After an easy early rise we head towards Ngorongoro Crater, cited as ‘Africa’s Eden’ and the ’8th Natural Wonder of the World’. The Ngorongoro Crater is a breathtaking natural wonder referred to as the world’s biggest wildlife zoo, due to its high density of resident game. In the afternoon we descend to the crater floor where you will be amazed by the sheer number and diversity of animals and birdlife. Standing in our pop up safari vehicle the viewing opportunities are endless, just deciding which way to look and what to look at, the choices are unlimited. The sheer excitement as we spot any of the big 5 or we get the call over the radio that a lion is perched high atop a nearby rocky outcrop or a black rhino has been sighted and rush with our vehicle to catch a glimpse before the moment passes. Tonight as we relax we reflect on what has been a truly remarkable journey like no other experience and marvel in the wonders of the amazing wildlife East Africa has to offer. Read more
In the morning we make the drive to Arusha or Kilimanjaro airport, here you are dropped off as we have reached the end of your safari adventure. Here you can plan to catch a flight on to other adventures or back to your home country full of memories to marvel over for a long time.
We have been back in Sweden and Falun, enjoying the winter of course. But every day, in our minds, we travel back to East Africa and Uganda and relive an unforgettable safari. The savanna with giraffes, elephants and all the antelopes. The rainforest and the gorillas in the mist. The Nile with hippos and crocodiles. The Ngorongoro and Serengeti with the lions and other big cats and the awesome number of animals in the big migration. But we also remember curious kids, always smiling and ready for a football game during a short lunch stop. Awesome journeys on red and bad roads in the enriching company of Michael who became a lot more than just a guide and driver. He became a friend. We just arrived after a 3 days Gorilla Tracking in Bwindi NP and squeezed in a Game Drive in QENP incl. the tree climbing lions in Ishasha! Godwin was a perfect driver and tour guide!
