strange rock formations and multicolored hills. Arrival at Cafayate.
Located in the southernmost limit of the Calchaquí Valleys, this is the vine growing area. Many vineyards can be found only three blocks from the main square. Some industrialized wineries can be visited in the village surroundings as well as many others that still make wine with the old fashioned methods. Within the urban area there are many interesting places to visit: the parish church, the Handicrafts Market in the square, the Wine Museum and the Archaeological and Colonial Museums. Back to Salta we will drive through the “Las Conchas River’s Gorge, where the wind and water erosion have carved the mountains creating different formations, such as the Devil's Throat, the Amphitheatre (it receives this name due to the great acoustic, many singers had performed there), the Toad, the Friar. Stop at Tres Cruces (Three Crosses) vantage point to admire a spectacular panorama. Landscape is absolutely amazing!! Arrival at Salta by late afternoon.
