Depart early to go on a memorable 4-hour hike in the beautiful flooded canyons of the Wadi Al-Mujib Nature Reserve, the lowest reserve of the world. After breakfast, you will begin today’s walk following the crowds through the main gates, but then suddenly you'll leave them all behind and proceed on your own into the unspoiled desert landscape. Your trail will follow an old Nabatean ceremonial procession route towards the holy city's top “the Place of Sacrifice” centuries ago. Along the way you will see some traces of ancient stone steps and eroded carvings of deities or “god blocks” cut into the rock walls. Walk through secret way to watch the Siq from the top, Jabal Al jilf, Danour Al Khaznah, and a view of the treasury from the very top in Petra! This top is the highest place in Petra and was known as the Place of Sacrifice. Proceeding through “Wadi Nmayer” and “Wadi Farasa”, which has some of the best temples in Petra including, the Renaissance Tomb, Broken Pediment Tomb, Roman Solider Tomb and colored Triclinium, the Garden Temple, and visit the Lions Fountain. Follow the stone steps of a Nabatean processional way down into the heart of Petra to discover the secret slot canyon “the Dark Siq” or as locals call it “Wadi Al Muthlim”. Read more
After breakfast, Visit Little Petra (Beida). Little Petra is a miniature Petra... it's another Nabatean city carved into bare sandstone along a narrow canyon. It's less imposing than Petra, but also less crowded, which makes it worthwhile to see. Now, we leave for Wadi Rum desert also called ‘The Valley of the Moon’, headquarter to Prince Faisal Bin Hussein and T.E. Lawrence during the Arab Revolt against the Ottomans. A 4-hour Jeep ride you will get the chance to see many remarkable places deep in the Jordanian desert. Enjoy a mouthwatering barbeque lunch in the middle of nowhere and have a glass of sweet Bedouin tea.
