After visiting the old part of the city, take a walk through the busy streets of one of the largest market, Chandni Chowk, you come to India's largest mosque Jama Masjid. Next you will pass by the Red Fort, Gateway, Presidential House, Parliament and other government buildings. Later in the afternoon drive to Agra – where is the famous Taj Mahal. Morning breakfast at hotel. After breakfast, begin your Jaipur tour by visiting Amber Fort, which was built in the 16th century. Ride an elephant will help you conquer the climb up the hill where the fort gate is situated. Later in the afternoon visit the city palace complex, which include - a museum, an astronomical observatory Jantar Mantar (UNESCO) and the wind palace from the 18th century – Hawa Mahal. This palace with countless windows and balconies covered with built Maharajah Pratap Sawaj Singh for his wife to be able to secretly observe the surrounding bustle of the city life around. Hi Chandra, Yes we have had a great holiday, lots of travel but it would not have been possible to see so many interesting places without. The guides were all excellent but we can't remember their names. If you know who the guide was in Kolkata, he was very knowledgeable and was kind enough to buy us prints of some paintings in the Victoria Museum, now we are home and have a chance to appreciate them. Please pass on our thanks to him for his generosity and wish him well. Just for future reference the drive from Shimla to Amritsar is 9 hours (including 2 short wash room breaks and lunch). Not a problem but you may wish to revise the estimated timing of 6/7 hours. The drivers too were patient and excellent. The Oberoi hotels are so good you expect all hotels to be the same!
