This tour will take you to the SAVA region, where you will live a unique experience for 2 nights in bivouac in the Marojejy National Park. The park is world-renowned for its rich biodiversity, and attracts many scientists who regularly discover new species that have not been previously described in Marojejy and are sometimes even totally new to science. The discovery will continue with an exploration of the Ankarana reserve with its "Tsingy".

According to the flight schedules, you will be taken to the airport and fly to Sambava. In your arrival in Sambava, you will be welcomed by a representative of your hotel. The rest of day will be free. Optional visits and activities. Overnight in a hotel.
After breakfast, you will leave Sambava and drive to Manantenina, Marojejy NP visitor's center. Located at 60 km from Sambava on Andapa road, the access to the park will be made through a bad track. In your arrival the trekking inside the park will begin, you will leave to Mantella Camp (C1, 8km, 4h in a watching pace, no difficulty - start at 100m altitude, camp at 450m) and discover the lower part of the wet primary forests. This is an opportunity to meet many species of reptiles and amphibians, some species of lemurs and many species of birds (including blue Coua and Prevost Eurycère). Simpona Tour is a continuation of the Mantella Tour: from Mantella Camp, you walk for an hour or two until Marojejia Camp (C3), at 775 m altitude. The camp is located on the border between the humid lowland forest and mountain. Real panorama of granite cliffs and mountains covered with deep green forests. Soon after breakfast, you will begin the descent towards the park exit and back to Sambava. Lunch included. Overnight in a hotel.
In the morning, you will leave Sambava and drive to Vohémar. Vohémar is the northern town of the SAVA region and is distinguished above all by its drier climate and its dialect closer to the northwestern dialect : sakalava. Its sparse flora has favored the extensive breeding of the zebus, which makes the richest district of the region in cattle. The cattle are left there in complete freedom. It is here that the commercial port of the region is located, which carries the maritime traffic of the goods with the great ports of Madagascar of which Toamasina, but also with the foreign one. The part of the road you are going to do this day is one of the worst trails on the island. It is impracticable during the rainy season and that one crosses painfully even in dry period. Arrival Ambilobe, you will continue on Ankarana. Overnight in a hotel.
Ankarana, is a special reserve, about 18,225 hectares, encompasses the beautiful Ankarana massif, about 100km south-west of Antsiranana. It’s a striking and undeveloped region with impressive tsingy formations; diverse flora and fauna, including many lemurs and interesting birds’ species; lakes; and an extensive cave system, which includes several fascinating bat-filled grottoes. Ankarana has remarkably rich and varied vegetation such as figs, baobabs and other trees typical deciduous forest. After Bemaraha reserve, this place is the second to admire the Tsingy. You can also discover some species of baobab in this park. In the company of a MNP guide (Madagascar National Parks), you will discover the reserve with its Tsingy, the famous sharp spikes, lake and caves. This massif has also a historical interest. After the breakfast, you will leave Ankarana and drive to Ankify, through cocoa plantations, coffee and ylang ylang and through mangroves landscapes. Ankify is a peninsula located 17 km from Ambanja. It faces the islands of Nosy Be and Nosy Komba. The small port included is allowing those on board to these islands. You will be transferred by sea to the island of Nosy Be, crossing will take about one hour and a half. In your arrival, you will be welcomed by your hotel representative and transfer to the hotel. This day will be devoted to a discovery of Antananarivo city in company of a historian. Antananarivo , the « city of a thousand » is the largest city in Madagascar. It stands on the side of one of the twelve sacred hills. This city is the cradle of the Merina dynasty. Visits to the royal enclosure where once stood the ROVA, palace of Queen RANAVALONA first (1828/1861) and the Palace of the Prime Minister RAINILAIARIVONY converted into the National Museum; will be an opportunity to discuss the important role of "Hova"; People in the highlands, who first established state structures in Madagascar.
