¡Bienvenidos a Costa Rica! Once you arrive in beautiful Costa Rica, a representative will be waiting for you at the airport and will provide all the travel documents you need. A transportation service will take you to your hotel located in the heart of the metropolitan area of San José.
Today, you will continue your journey to Guápiles, where you will stop for a Costa Rican style breakfast. After breakfast you will departure to the dock in La Pavona where you will board a boat for a 15-mile ride on a system of jungle waterways and rivers until your reach your lodge located in the heart of Tortuguero National Park. After lunch, you will depart for a guided visit of the main beach and the colorful town of Tortuguero. Your guide will explain you the way of life in the Caribbean coast, as well, as how thousands of marine turtles lay their eggs and hatch at the beach every year from June through December. Read more
This morning you will experience the beauty of the rainforest on a boat trip through the canals of the Tortuguero National Park. During this boat trip, you will discover many animals than can only be seen in this tropical paradise. You will return to the lodge after the tour for breakfast. In the afternoon, you will have a second boat tour where you can enjoy the beauty of the canals and flora and fauna of the national park. After breakfast, you will travel by boat back to the dock and then a transfer will drive you to Guápiles where you will enjoy a delicious lunch and a representative of the car company will deliver you car to start your driving adventure. Afterwards you will continue your trip to Turrialba. Conveniently located between San Jose and the Caribbean Coast, this lively region is distinguished for its green rolling hills and fertile volcanic farmland. Turrialba´s rich volcanic soil is ideal for the growth of coffee, sugar cane, macadamia, and other crops. It is also famous for its cheese, manufacturing hand-sewn professional baseballs used in the World Series and for its open air fruit and vegetable markets with some of the best produce available in Costa Rica. Today you will continue your adventure from Turrialba to the Talamanca mountain range to reach San Gerardo de Dota. On the way you make an optional visit to the highest active volcano in Costa Rica, the Irazú volcano, where if you are lucky, both oceans can be seen at the same time. Afterwards, you will continue to the old capital Cartago, where you can visit the most famous church of the country "La Basilica de Nuestra Señora de los Ángeles". In the late afternoon you will reach San Gerardo de Dota, this is a small community located in the mountains of Talamanca, enjoy the cool mist in a mountain valley surrounded by wonderful cloud forests and full of huge oak forests, which are the habitat of one of the most beautiful birds in the world, the resplendent Quetzal. Today you will enjoy one of the most amazing experience in Costa Rica. You will join a local guide early in the morning to take the Quetzal Quest. The guide will lead the tour to try and spot one/some Quetzals for you. With its metallic green plumage, crimson breast and bell and its incredible streamer-like feathers, watching a male Quetzal in its magical fly, is a unique, breathtaking experience. You will return to the Lodge at 8:00 am for breakfast. After breakfast you are ready to start your journey to Dominical at the Pacific Coast. Dominical has become in the last years a favorite destination for many tourists. Along the coast you will find miles of isolated, unspoiled beaches and beautiful bays which are great for surfing, fishing, and diving. Today you will enjoy the one-day tour to Corcovado National Park. Named by the National Geographic as one of most intense place in the world, biologically speaking, and it is estimated that no place in the world (that possesses a similar extension) has greater biological diversity. The Corcovado National Park is a paradisaical site larger than 52.000 hectares, which has primary and secondary forest, beaches and spring waterfalls in tropical climate. In this park you will be able to observe more than one hundred different types of birds and other animals within their own habitat, as three-toed and two finger Sloths, coatis, tapirs, anteaters, dart frogs (Poisonous and Talamanca), white-faced monkeys, howler monkeys. Today the ride starts early! You leave Dominical and continue your drive to Manuel Antonio National Park. You can visit by yourself the Manuel Antonio National Park. This park has one of the most impressive landscapes in the world and has several coves with many white sand beaches and lush foliage amidst great mountains and forests that reach the beaches. The park has 3 different trails that go from flat to very steep. One of the highlights of this tour is that Manuel Antonio hosts 3 of the 4 existing tropical primates (monkeys) living in Costa Rica. Half way through the hike, you will enjoy a leisure stop at the world wide famous Third Beach. Once there you can rest on the beach or play with the waves. Throughout the hike is common to see sloths, birds and reptiles as well as admire orchids, butterflies and tropical trees. Then it's time to continue to cloud forest reserve of Monteverde. This Cloud Forest Reserve is one of the most important wild life sanctuaries in the tropics, well known both among scientific researchers and eco travelers. Today you will visit the famous Hanging Bridges. You will go across 15 impressive steal bridges, some of them suspended over the forest and other stationary. The bridges have different lengths and heights. They allow access to the flora and fauna from different perspectives as you go through the different levels of the rainforest. At the end of the tour your guide will transfer you back at the hotel. Free afternoon to enjoy the hotel or visit Santa Elena downtown with your guide. Read more
Enjoy breakfast at your hotel. At the appropriate time you will drive to the airport offices of your car rental company and you will return your car there. Then, you will go to the main terminal to catch your return flight. We wish you a safe flight and hope to greet in Costa Rica again soon.
