A little bit of the north & the south of Spain

This trip is perfect to visit the capital of Spain and a little bit of the north and the south of the country, from the Basque Country to the south of Spain. You'll taste the local food and wine and enjoy cultural cities and activities. Sightseeing is also an important part of the trip. A mix of public transportation and car rental to discover a little bit more in depth some of the areas you will visit.

Madrid

Arrive in Madrid where Pascual, your local Chauffeur, will be waiting for you at the airport to take you to your hotel, a 4* superior hotel beside the Plaza del Sol square that makes it very convenient to reach the old quarter walking but far enough not to listen the noise of the popular square. That evening you'll have arranged a private guide walking tour through the old quarter, Madrid of Augsburg’s. Your local guide will be able to show you not only the touristy places but also those hidden corners you wouldn't discover if no one tells you about them. He'll also tell you how local people live. San Sebastián & a pintxos experience

You'll get to San Sebastian by train. It is a long trip, around 5 hours and 30 minutes, but trains in Spain are comfortable, seats are wide and you can stand up and walk to the cafeteria, see the sceneries from the wide window in the wagons and even see a movie on the tv. You'll check in at your hotel, a 4* superior hotel in la Concha beach, one of the most traditional ones. Your double deluxe room with sea views will delight you. After the check in, my good partner in the are, Jon, will pick you up at your hotel and take you to the old quarter for a pintxos tour as we spanish people do, hoping from bar to bar asking for a wine / beer while enjoying different pintxos (miniature creations of food). Later you will be taken back to your hotel. Read more

Medina Azahara

A half day tour will be arranged for you to visit Medina Azahara, the city of the Caliphs. The city of Medina Azahara has a practically rectangular floor plan. It was built on raked terraces which made use of the slope of the mountainside. Each terrace was separated from the others by walls, which divided the city into three parts. The Alcázar Real palace is located on the highest and intermediate levels, while the lower part stood outside the walls and was used for dwellings and the mosque. There are still remnants of tiled borders, paintings and columns in the composite and Corinthian styles. Visitors should not miss a visit to the two recently restored rooms. It was declared a National Monument in 1923. Read more

Granada - Alhambra

Another private tour with your local guide expert in history. This time visiting the Alhambra. It is one of the experiences you won’t want to miss if you visit this city but be careful!!, tickets must be booked in advance, sometimes more than 3 months in advance. Don’t leave this for the very last moment or you won’t be able to visit it. The Alhambra ("The Red One") is a palace and fortress complex. It was originally constructed as a small fortress in AD 889 on the remains of Roman fortifications, and then largely ignored until its ruins were renovated and rebuilt in the mid-13th century by the Nasrid emir Mohammed ben Al-Ahmar of the Emirate of Granada, who built its current palace and walls. Luis helped my family plan an amazing family vacation to the Basque region of Spain. Luis was incredibly patient and informative during the planning process. He was spot on with his recommendations and the trip was planned perfectly and was everything we had hoped for.

Great time in Northern Spain, thanks to Luis and his detailed, professional, and friendly service. We were four seniors out for good food, wine, hiking, art, and "hidden" places. Luis surpassed our expectations, arranging all lodging and local transportation, including private drivers to take us to the out-of-the-way places. And all for a reasonable cost. Northern Spain is beautiful, and we were happy to have experienced its geographical and cultural diversity with Luis' guidance via all the information in his complete "personal guide book" he creates for his clients.
