One of the best places in the world to see orangutans is in Tanjung Puting National Park. They are living around the camp and will come to greet you. The young orphans who cannot yet care for themselves have to be taught how to climb trees and eat leaves, before going back into the wild.
Arrival at the airport, meet and greet with our guide team and direct transfer by airport taxi to Kumai. We will cross to Sekonyer River for about 15 minutes by boat called klotok. The tour to Tanjung Puting National Park is begin, lunch will be served on the boat prepared by our cook with many variations food. Along the way upstream, you will see the different trees vegetation. Moreover, in the afternoon, it’s the right time to see proboscis monkeys (long nose monkey), macaques, and kind of birds. After morning breakfast on the boat, visit Camp Leakey directly. We can see proboscis monkeys (long nose monkey), macaques, fishes, crocodiles, and kind of birds. Arriving at Camp Leakey, we will have hiking to jungle heterogenic forest. Here is the orangutan’s research place by Orangutan Foundation International ( OFI ). Then we go to the National Park information center. Return to the boat and having lunch and take a rest. Afternoon feeding time at Camp Leakey at 2 p.m to 4 p.m, then back to the boat for taking shower. Boating down for about 2 km, stop for having dinner and stay overnight. Read more
Breakfast on the boat, and down stream to Pondok Tanggui to see orangutan feeding at 9 a.m. Back to the boat, boating down to reforestation project. There are many kinds of traditional medicine plantation and seedling. In the wet season, the visitors can adopt the seed to be planted in this place. Back to the boat to have lunch and take a rest. Then we continue our trip to village. Across from the village, there is first station called Tanjung Harapan. Here we can see orangutan feeding at 3 p.m. Back to the boat, boating down, stop to have dinner and stay overnight. Read more
Breakfast on the boat in Tanjung Harapan, then boating down the river and continue the trip to Tanjung Kluang Beach. We can see hatching of turtle. When there are babies turtle are ready to be release we could have an opportunity to let them free. At night, we walk down the east coast along three kilometers in search of turtle nesting. Morning breakfast on the boat in Tanjung Harapan, then boating down the river and back to Kumai. Transfer to Pangkalanbun airport by taxi to continue your next destination.
I just wanted to say thank you for the great tour that you organized recently for my 4 friends from Australia to see the orangutans in Kalimantan. They had a fantastic time. Their guide, boat crew, and boat were all excellent. I’m looking forward to being able to do the trip myself in the future.
We wanted to thank you for the great trip we had. Jumri, Firman and Mr. Udin made our trip more than worthwhile. They were very helpful in every kind of way. We had lots of fun. The forest where we went was so beautiful and the lodge also. After the trip to the destination, a meal was prepared by Mr. Udins wife who is a great cook! Even with our special diet, she surprised us with every meal! Of course seeing the orangutan in the wild is only to dream about but the whole stay made it so special. The lodge, the crew, the sounds, the animals, the super nice lunch we had on the way back and the interesting conversations we had. Every track we made was one to remember. We could do nothing than to recommend this trip to everyone interested in seeing the forest with all his animals and flora living there.
