OFF TO TORTUGUERO

Early transfer to Tortuguero pier where you will take a boat to Tortugero village, across Tortugero National Park. After visiting the village of Tortuguero, transfer to the lodge. After lunch, time at leisure to enjoy the lodge facilities, or the numerous optional activities. Between June and October, you can take a night walk to witness sea turtle nesting (extra activity). BOAT TOUR ON THE CANALS

After breakfast, boat tour across Tortugero National Park, to discover the fauna along the way! Later you will put on some rubber boots to discover the lush flora and fauna of the rainforest. Time at leisure in the end of the day to relax by the swimming pool or enjoy the lodge facilities.

SOUTH CARIBBEAN COAST

After breakfast you will take a boat back to Tortuguero pier. Arrival and transfer to the car rental agency to collect your car. You will depart to Puerto Viejo, on the beautiful south Caribbean coast. Arrival at the hotel and check-in. EXPLORING THE AREA

Day at leisure to enjoy the beach or do an optional activity in the area such as: Tour of the Jaguar Rescue Center : The Jaguar Rescue Center is a rehabilitation center for injured and abused animals. The tour will give you the chance to see the work of the employees and volonteers, and get a closer look at the wild animals of Costa Rica Hike in Cahuita National Park : Cahuita National Park is a must see on the Caribbean Coast. You will have a walk on the seaside trails of the National Park, dotted with beautiful little bays, lined by coconut trees and protected by a coral reef. You can easily observe the wildlife: monkeys, birds, iguanas, raccoons, coatis, sloths and more might cross your path. Night tour in La Ceiba Reserve : : This tour starts with a delicious organic diner before going for a 2h hike across the deep forest of La Ceiba Reserve to watch the nighttime activities of nocturnal animals. Full day immersion in a Bri-Bri indigenous community : You will meet a Bri-Bri family, part of the Kekoldy community, who breeds iguanas and grows medicinal plants in their little farm. The Green Iguana is an endangered species due to intensive hunting and thanks to initiative such as this family’s, the number of green iguanas is slowly coming back to normal. You will also learn everything about cacao, a very important plant in the Bri-Bri culture due to its healing, spiritual and, of course, gustatory properties. SARAPIQUI

Drive to Sarapiqui, in the northest part of the country, a rich agricultural area (pineapple, palm heart, pejibaye, guanabana…). Afternoon at leisure to enjoy the hotel facilities or to book an optional tour in the area, such as: Chocolate tour at La Tirimbina : You will have a guided walk across the forest to an old cacao plantation. Your local guide will explain you the ancient chocolate fabrication methods, and you will then taste a bit of the « Gods’ beverage » (the original chocolate recipe made by the Native populations) as well of the hot chocolate as we know it nowadays. Rafting on Sarapiqui River : Sarapiqui River is ideal for beginners willing to enjoy the beauties of the area in a ludic and fun way! After a safety orientation and paddle instruction with professional guide, you enter the river for a delightful afternoon among the primary forest. Read more

ARENAL VOLCANO

You will continu northward to La Fortuna, a town situated on the foot of Arenal volcano, Costa Rica´s most famous one. Even if the Arenal Volcano activity decreased over the past 4 years, some clouds of smoke can still be seen going out of the crater when the sky is clear. DISCOVERING THE AREA

Day at leisure to enjoy the lodge facilities, or go and explore the area by booking an optional tour in the area, like for example: Hike in Arenal Volcano National Park : Hike on the trails of the park, where you will see a lot a vegetal species such as the silk-cotton tree, a holy tree for the natives populations that believed the tree was a gate to heaven. You will also walk on a solidified lava flow from where you will enjoy a beautiful panoramic view both on Arenal Volcano and on Arenal Volcano’s lake. The Hanging Bridges : the bridges are situated in a 250Ha tropical forest private natural reserve. From the bridges you will have the best point of view on the forest canopy and on Arenal Volcano. The total length of the trails is 3km, where you will cross about 15 bridges. Climbing of Cerro Chato : It is a pretty rough trail across the forest that will lead you to the crater of this ancient volcano, where now lays a bright green lake. IMPORTANT: THIS ACTIVITY IS FOR HIKERS WITH A GOOD PHYSICAL CONDITION. La Fortuna River Waterfall : You will have to go down about 500 steps stair in the forest to arrive to the 70mt high waterfall. If the chilly water doesn’t stop you, you could enjoy a swim in the waterfall. Read more

OFF TO THE PACIFIC COAST

You will continue to Tamarindo, one of the most ebullient village in the area. Tamarindo is a famous beach resort in the country, where you could find a large range of activities, restaurants, shops, ect. The beaches of Playa Tamarindo and Playa Grande are in a great bay, on the northern part of Nicoya Peninsula, and they are part of Las Baulas National Park. After checking-in at the hotel, time at leisure to enjoy the hotel facilities or the nearby beaches. Read more

EXPLORING THE CLOUD FOREST

Day at leisure to go and explore the area by booking optional activities, such as: Hike in the Children's Eternal Rain Forest : It is the largest private reserve of Costa Rica, with more than 20.000h of protected tropical forest situated in the Northeastern part of the country. This reserve exists thanks to the help of children and adults all over the world who took part the BEN movement, a fund-raising campaign, which started in Sweden and in the United States in 1987, and quickly spread all over the world. About 60 species of amphibian, 100 species of reptiles, 425 species of bird and 121 species of mammals are been identified in the reserve, about 50.5% of all terrestrial vertebrate species in Costa Rica. Forest night tour : A night walk in the forest is a magical experience during which you will witness the nighttime activities of the nocturnal animals. You will have to pad and stay quiet to observe the numerous mammals, birds, and reptiles that start their day when the sun is down. Zip-line : The canopy is a totally different way of discovering the forest. You will glide from tree to tree, accompanied by expert guides and safety equipment. C’est un merveilleux pays, une découverte et des rencontres fabuleuses. Si, le paradis existe il est au costa rica!! Les gens sont souriants, accueillants, chaleureux, pas stressés, réconfortants nous avons beaucoup aimé aussi leur responsabilité écologique : le moindre village a ses poubelles de tri, même si c'est un simple bidon. Quand nous étions perdu il y avait toujours quelqu'un pour nous indiquer le chemin, et même sans que nous le demandions. On ne ressent pas comme dans d'autres endroits que le touriste n'est qu'une manne financière. Nous avons même sauvé un petit oiseau qui s'appelle « el amigo del hombre » des griffes d'une vilaine fougère!! Read more
