On the fourth day of the Rio de Janeiro tour, depart from hotel for a unforgettable convertible jeep ride through the lush Tijuca Rainforest, the largest urban forest in the world, stressing the striking contrast between the "stone" jungle of sky-scrapers and the real tropical forest in the heart of the city. Stops are made at the "Cachoeira dos Macacos"(monkeys' waterfall); at the "Vista Chinesa"(Chinese View) lookout point for a breathtaking view of the city; at the "Cascatinha" (small waterfall); and at the "Mayrink Chapel" that houses beautiful "afrescos" of Candido Portinari, one of Brazil's Modern Art Painting Masters. The tour includes a light trekking through a forest trail, including an on site explanation about the ecosystem. Transfer to the Rio de Janeiro Airport for a flight to Iguassu Falls. Arrive in Iguassu, and transfer to your hotel. Check in. You will start the Iguassu Falls in the afternoon, an escorted walking tour of the Brazilian side of the falls through path footbridges and belvederes, all strategically placed to give the tourist the best view, allowing to see each and every fall. The bottom of the falls can also be reached by a panoramic elevator. After tour, you have an amazing experience, Macuco Safari! This has become one of the most popular tours in the area. Boarding Jeeps, the best form of transportation in the Brazilian Falls Park, passengers will get to know several different species of sub-tropical plants and trees, including the heart-of-palms, which grows in abundance there. With luck animals and some of the beautiful birds of the region can be seen. After the Iguassu Falls tour comes a Jeep ride of 3 km, a 600 meter walk through the forest to visit the Macuco Falls with lead to the banks of the Iguaçu River. There, in safe open boats with outboard engines and a capacity of 12 passengers each, cruise up river in the middle of the Iguaçu River to enjoy a view of the unforgettable Iguaçu Falls. If the level of the river allows, it is possible to get right next to the falls themselves, where the passenger will experience a thrill never to be forgotten. In the morning, depart from hotel in a comfortable car, van or bus crossing the bridge over the Iguaçu River, the Frontier between Brazil and Argentina and continue the Iguassu Falls tour. Arriving at the National Park on the Argentinean Side, visitors will go through a Visitors Center and take one of the trains to the Cataratas Station, starting point for both the upper and lower walks. From this same station, train will depart towards the awesome Devil's Throat. The tour comprises 2 circuits: 1) Upper Walk - A 1200 meters long walk on a catwalk over the falls; 2) Devil's Throat - A 1100 meters long walk on a foot bridge, on the upper part of the Iguassu river that open to a magnificent view and nature’s spectacle: the Devil's Throat fall. In the morning, depart from hotel for a scenic drive through the upper and lower city, the colonial remnants of their cobblestone-paved streets and stucco buildings. The São Francisco Church, built in a grandiose baroque style and decorated in gold leaf. This visit includes Carmo Museum and Church and the “Largo do Pelourinho”, where slaves were auctioned and punished during Colonial times. Remarks: Cathedral is closed on Sundays and holidays. Today, you will have a panoramic tour of Salvador. On the way to the “Senhor do Bonfim” hill and its famous “Senhor do Bonfim” church which houses the “room of miracles”, the tour passes by the Lacerda Lift, the Commercial Association and other interesting sites. Return via the Mont Serrat under which the full panorama of Salvador is spread out, encompassing both the old and new towns. Before the end of the tour, a visit to the Mercado Modelo, a covered handicraft market with a fine display of silver, leather, wood, straw and other items. On this day you will transfer to the Amazon Eco Park Jungle Lodge for a 3 night program. Depart Manaus pier to the lodge. Check in. Lunch and dinner included. After dinner, depart the lodge on paddle or motor canoes, to listen to the sounds of the jungle at night, with the possibility to spot alligators (or other creatures). Carrying a flashlight, alligators are easily spotted – two shining red lights among the foliage. Once the guide spots an alligator he will try to catch a small one with his bare hands bringing the animal on board for a brief explanation of the habitat of this primeval animal, hunting methods and the animal itself. After a brief stay on board and many photos, the alligator is safely released to its habitat. (Animals are handled with care – and guides cause no harm to the animals). Depart from the Lodge for a Natural Hike. Biodiversity is the main characteristic of ECOPARK. It includes uncatalogued species in virgin rainforest, natural savannahs and creeks. Several streams of crystal clear warm water also run through the land. During tour the guide will lead clients, educating them about the local flora & fauna, how and where to find edible fruits and potable water, first aid , how to find their way in the forest and much more. Lunch is included. In the afternoon, a non-professional fishing activity. Depending on the season, you may catch the elusive piranha that nibbles your bait without a tug on the line or other species. This morning visitors will visit Monkey Jungle.. The Monkey Forest is a restricted area where wild animals come and go as seasons pass by. There is always a feeding time schedule, under the supervision of the biologist and/or personnel with credentials to do so. Guests are welcome to visit, film and photograph the animals that may be on site, in a natural and safe environment. The Monkey Forest is open to guests visits, always in the company of a facility professional. Guests are welcome to film and take as many photos as they wish in this natural and safe environment. Lunch is included. That afternoon visit the home of local Amazonian residents (cablocos), learn about their traditions and customs and the rich history of the Amazon, the rubber cycle, and much more.
