Arrival in Antananarivo, your travel agent will meet you at the airport and take you to your hotel in town. Overnight in a hotel and prepare for the Antananarivo tour the following day.
This day will be dedicated to the discovery of a refuge center and artisanal environment with their activities in an Antananarivo tour. Workshops of Art ironwork at Violette and Dieudonné, located East of Antananarivo on the road leading to Ambohimanambola. This is an association created by the couple to give a chance to those who are left out of society (old homeless, disabled, abandoned women ...)Today, nearly 400 people: female and male workers working in rudimentary workshops for recycling old scrap metal and transform handcrafted in small decorative wonders and useful. Their work allows workers to meet their basic dignity and needs and regain their dignity to be fully human. The afternoon will be devoted to the discovery of the town of Antananarivo, accompanied by an historian in an impressive Antananarivo tour. ANTANANARIVO, the "city of the thousand" is the largest agglomeration of Madagascar. It stands on the side of one of the twelve sacred hills. This city is the cradle of the Merina dynasty. Visits to the upper city (the old town) where once stood the ROVA, palace of Queen RANAVALONA 1st (1828/1861) and then the Palace of Prime Minister RAINILAIARIVONY, converted into National Museum; Will be the occasion to evoke the important role of the "Hova"; People of the high plateaux, who first established state structures in Madagascar. After the Antananarivo tour, enjoy the breakfast and head to Antsirabe, across mountain ranges of Ankaratra, whose highest summit is 2644m. On the hillsides, rice terraces decline their range of green. By late morning, you will reach in Ambohibary, a small village located about 25Km before arriving to Antsirabe. Accompanied by a guide ethnologist ( or specialized in civilization), you will get in the heart of rural world of the Vakinankaratra region: discovery of farmers way of life, visit of blacksmiths village, and a place of worship animist. After breakfast. you will go to Betafo, a town about 22km in the west of Antsirabe, to discover this former capital of the region of Vakinankaratra. Along the walk, you can observe standing stones, scattered throughout the town as well as typical houses, with wrought iron balconies. You will keep on by the loop around Betafo, ending to the waterfall of Andriamamovoka which will then offer to you. After the tour, drive back to Antananarivo. Pic nic lunch included. After breakfast, you will leave Antananarivo to explore the Merina countryside, villages, custom and traditions, living heritage of highlands in an impressive Anjozorobe tour. You will go to AMBOHIMANGA ("Blue Hill"), the birthplace of the fathers of Merina dynasty; This sacred place is home to the tombs of the Merina kings whose Andrianjaka, founder of Antananarivo. You will continue with a visit to Fonohasina, a village of silk weaving. In the Afternoon, you will keep on to the north on the national road 3 and then embark on an Anjozorobe tour. You will drive through the central highlands with a scenic view of ricefields. And after 2h drive you will arrive in Anjozorobe village, where is located on the edge of the altitude forest corridor. (1000 m). Upon your arrival, you will be greeted by Fanamby NGO which will show you the campsite. The day will be devoted to discovering the fauna and flora of the Anjozorobe forest in an exciting Anjozorobe tour. You will also have a community immersion in the village of Antsahabe: discovery of the village's organization and its social organization, the farmers' way of life... In early evening, you will continue the Anjozorobe tour and go on night walk in search for nocturnal species (Microcebus or "Mouse Lemur" the smallest lemur and strictly nocturnal, ...) After breakfast, you will leave Anjozorobe and drive to Andasibe, passing through Eucalyptus forest leading directly to Manjakadriana. Around noon, you will reach Andasibe, the best spot to observe the biggest lemur of Madagascar: the famous Indri-indri. In the afternoon, you will visit the private reserve of Vakona forest lodge in the Andasibe tour. In that private reserve, many trails have been laid out. This well-designed reserve includes a crocodiles' farm and a mini-park with lemurs including several islets where various species of these prosimiens. Next on the Andasibe tour, through a canoe ride from islet to islet, you will approach near the specimens of the park. Overnight in a hotel. Read more
In the morning, you will discover the Mitsinjo park in the next stop of the Andasibe tour. A project of Association Mitsinjo which consist in forest restoration and to offset greenhouse gas emissions. You will take part in the project by planting your tree. In the evening, you will continue the impressive Andasibe tour and accompanied by a guide from the association, you will discover the nocturnal lemurs and chameleons.. After breakfast, you will drive back to Antananarivo. Optionnal visit at the private reserve Madagascar Exotic, created by Mr. Peyrieras, researcher and naturalist writer.
