Wander in Bogota

Bienvenidos a Colombia! Today you'll arrive in one of South America's largest cities, Bogota. Making your way out of the airport, one of our reps will greet you and help you transfer from the airport to the hotel. After check in, you'll have a free day or afternoon to get used to the altitude and acclimatize. Wander the streets of Bogota's alternative "La Candelaria" district where you can find small restaurants and funky bars to enjoy some of the city's unique culture that evening. Read more

Into the Amazon

Embark on a 2 hour flight from Bogota into the Amazonas Region of Colombia. We will arrive in the town of Leticia, known as the "Amazonian capital" of Colombia. Besides being the gateway into the Amazon jungle, it is a city that is vibrant and full of life, creating a dizzying crossroads where rural meets urban. That afternoon, after settling into your hotel, you'll visit the main square in Leticia, the plaza, and Santander park, where at sunset you'll be surrounded by a cacophony of sound as the thousands of parrots who live here begin their evening song. Interact with an Amazonian Community

We begin our adventure into the depths of the Amazon after breakfast. We'll board a motorboat and zip down the Amazon to Puerto Narino. After a quick pit stop, we'll head further up a smaller tributary to San Juan Del Soco, an indigenous community on the banks of the river, where we will disembark and explore the community while meeting local. As you make your way through the area, your eyes will be opened to the realities of developing these isolated communities, and the importance of outside aid. As you hang out with the kids by playing soccer and visiting their school, you can feel the paradox of how the traditional clashes and blends with modernity. That afternoon, you'll have plenty of time to go swimming or canoeing in the river before settling into your hotel for the evening. Read more

Fish for Piranah

This morning we'll head out for a pleasant nature walk, where you will be able to discover some of the life that this section of lush jungle contains. From there we head out to Puernto Nariño, a remarkable ecological community that has struck a balance between man and nature. As we make our way to the nearby Tarapoto lakes, keep your eyes peeled for the occasional pink and gray dolphins, as well as a wide variety of birds. Take hold of a fishing pole as you become responsible for catching your own lunch out of the river: grilled piranah, a local delicacy. After this delicious meal, we will make our way to visit the San Francisco community, where we will visit an ongoing alligator and caiman conservation project. Read more

Bogota bound

After breakfast, you'll head back to Leticia to decompress and reacquaint yourself with the creature comforts of "civilization." Enjoy a locally prepared lunch and have time for market meandering on your own. Finally, when the time comes, we'll make our way to the airport for a short flight back to Bogota. Once you return to the big city and check into your hotel, you'll have free time to take advantage of Bogota's world class cuisine. Read more

Walk through Colonial Bogota

Today will begin with a chance to familiarize yourself with Bogota's colonial city.Start your guided walking tour of the Colombian capital in the Plaza de Bolívar (the city’s main square) surrounded by the colonial styled federal government buildings. Looking around, you feel a strong sense of European influence that is ingrained deeply into the city. We continue our journey by heading into the old colonial part of the city, better known as “La Candelaria”. Once there, we will have a chance to visit the San Francisco Church and the Gold Museum. Finally, we climb aboard a cable car that will carry us to the top of the Monserrate Hill, where you can enjoy a spectacular view of the city.Returning to the city, we head to the airport again for a short 45 min. flight to Armenia. The trip from the Armenia airport winds along twisty roads surrounded on all sides by green until we arrive at the coffee plantation where we will spend the night. Sit back and unwind as we have a welcome briefing and a tasty farm dinner before calling it a night. Read more

Relax on the Hacienda

Enjoy a day of relaxation at your chosen Hacienda. On this free day, you will have a variety of activities available to you, depending on your choice of Hacienda. Enjoy a peaceful walk through coffee and banana fields, go bird watching, or relax at an all out luxury spa experience. These are just a few of the choices that are available to you on this day.Alternatively, you can sign up for one of our optional excursions, one of which will take you to a serene botanical garden filled where you can wander amongst the 600 species of plants and trees before heading into a butterfly sanctuary to marvel at the many species and colorations that they have, or you can get your heart racing as you take a high flying canopy tour in the highest and longest canopy route in the country.Regardless of what you choose, this beautiful region will help you feel refreshed and revitalized for the next day's activities. Having finished a hearty breakfast, we make our way to visit a Coffee Farm and learn about the coffee production process. As you stand in the middle of this cofee plantation surrounded by breathtaking landscapes, you'll discover the magic of the delicious Quintuple Selection coffee. Get to know the technical and practical sides of the process of coffee cultivation as you dive into the fascinating world of luxury coffee.Leaving the coffee fields behind, we head to Salento, a picturesque village, where after checking into your hotel, you'll have the time to explore the many artisanal and crafts shops that the town offers before settling down for the night. Cruising in a Willys Jeep

Take a ride in a relic this morning as you hop into an immaculate classic Willys Jeep and wind your way through the super-scenic Valle del Cocora, a valley that is famous for its abundance of the national tree, the wax palm. Stroll around this picturesque area as you breathe in the fresh mountain air before taking a short horse riding tour. As you guide your horse along the Andean foothills, you'll gain an appreciation for the lifesytle and beauty that the locals wake up to every day. After this unforgetable morning, we head back to Salento for lunch on your own. You'll have a variety of local restaurants to choose from, each with their own unique flavors. After lunch, bid farewell to Colombia's unforgettable coffee region and catch your return flight to Bogotá at the Armenia airport. Read more

Journey Through Time

Journey back in time as you leave Bogotá in this morning. We will travel to our first stop in Raquira where you can try your hand at making clay art under the direction of a local artisan family. Enjoy a delicious home cooked meal in Raquira before heading to Villa de Leyva, one of Colombia's loveliest mountain towns. Relax in the sprawling main square as you enjoy the colonial-style whitewashed architecture and walk the cobbled streets. This place serves as a perfect portrait of rural towns as they once were. You'll have plenty of time to wander the streets, browse local tiendas, chat it up with locals, and even find a rousing game of tejo, a traditional criollo pastime that involves flinging a lead puck at a gunpowder target. Explosively fun! Enjoy dinner at one of the many restaurants on the streets, and stop by one of the small bars that dot the street before turning in for the night at your hotel. Read more

Woolen Workshop

After breakfast in the hotel we'll head out of town to the home of of a rural campesino (farmer) family where you'll have a hands-on wool workshop. Get your hands dirty alongside the local craftsmen as you learn the tricks of the wool trade. Once you've go through the wool making process and complete your own woolen masterpiece, fuel up by eating a hearty home cooked-lunch at the house of one of the families. We will then head back to Bogota and wind down, where you'll have the afternoon at your leisure to explore new parts of the city or revisit some of your favorite haunts. Read more

Unfortunately it's time to say goodbye to Bogota and the rest of Colombia. Depending on the time of your flight you may have time to do some last minute souvenir shopping.
