Have a city tour in Surabaya and visit House of Sampoerna, a cigarette museum. The next day, wake up in early morning to watch sunrise at Mount Bromo and climbs 245 stairs to the rim crater. Get on board to Sancaka train and head to Yogyakarta so you can visit the famous temples.
Upon arrival in Surabaya, meet and greet by our guide then directly Surebaya City sightseeing featuring Arab Quarter, Chinese temple, and House of Sampoerna (cigarette museum), further onward to Bromo. Overnight in Bromo Cottages.
Early morning excursion to Bromo by jeep to Penanjakan view point to see the sunrise (weather allows), further down to reach the sand sea and continue on horseback to reach the base of Mount Bromo. after climbing the 245 stairs to the rim crater and enjoying the beautiful panorama of surrounding - back to hotel for breakfast and shower, before continuing to Surabaya. Transfer to the railway station to boad the 'Sancaka' train (executive class) to Yogyakarta. This four and a half hour journey will take you through the interesting Javanese countryside. After breakfast, visit the Sultan's Palace and nearby Taman Sari (ruin of Water Palace built by the 1st Sultan) before proceeding onward to Borobudur, one of the most impressive Buddhist shrines in South East Asia. Admire the beautifully carved stone temples and Buddha images before transferring to the airport for your afternoon flight to Bali. My guide Kana was really good and very knowledgeable, he made my trip memorable. The highlight for me was the rice fields, Mengwi temple and Tanah Lot, the monkey forest was small and unimpressive but the monkeys were cute. Overall a great day with some spectacular sights.
Our guide was out of this world fantastic. We went on a sunday, which we didn't realize wasn't the best day for the guides as there are religious obligations in the morning. That said, we were the only ones on the tour and i don't know if our guide took us at all off the beaten path, but we thought he may have taken us to some extra spots. It was an absolute blast. First stop was a local thread factory, where you have time to shop although this will be the priciest shopping probably in all of Bali, then a jewelry village also very expensive but you can negotiate to an extent. After that it was a bit of a longer drive to Mengwi Temple, which is just gorgeous. Then a local rice farm/coffee shop before Tanah Lot. if you don't want to get stuck in hours of traffic, ask your guide to time it right where you see the sun beginning to set at Tanah lot but don't stay for the whole duration as it is insanely crowded. I definitely recommend this day! The scenery even during the drive was amazing. It was a fun-filled day completely full of culture. Highly recommend! Read more
I highly recommend this tour you get so much for your money... Fantastic experience and you get to see a lot of the country... It is a long day but we'll worth it. Our guide had so much knowledge and we learnt so much. Also we where able to stop when we wanted to see extra things. Again thank you.
