Take a city tour, encompassing visits to the Sultan's Palace, the Dutch "Water Castle" designed as an 18th century royal pleasure park and the city district of Kota Gede, famed for its silver. Head out of the city to visit the small village of Kaliopak where craftsmen paint buffalo hides and make shadow puppets. An early start to board the train to Jombang Railway Station. Arrival Jombang Railway Station then transfer by car to Malang for lunch then continue through classic Javanese scenery of Colonial Malang. The 3.00 AM start is handsomely rewarded by a short trek to see the sunrise over the majestic caldera of Mount Bromo. After soaking in the scenery, return to the hotel for breakfast and a chance to freshen up before transferring to Juanda International Airport for your onward flight.
My guide Kana was really good and very knowledgeable, he made my trip memorable. The highlight for me was the rice fields, Mengwi temple and Tanah Lot, the monkey forest was small and unimpressive but the monkeys were cute. Overall a great day with some spectacular sights.
Our guide was out of this world fantastic. We went on a sunday, which we didn't realize wasn't the best day for the guides as there are religious obligations in the morning. That said, we were the only ones on the tour and i don't know if our guide took us at all off the beaten path, but we thought he may have taken us to some extra spots. It was an absolute blast. First stop was a local thread factory, where you have time to shop although this will be the priciest shopping probably in all of Bali, then a jewelry village also very expensive but you can negotiate to an extent. After that it was a bit of a longer drive to Mengwi Temple, which is just gorgeous. Then a local rice farm/coffee shop before Tanah Lot. if you don't want to get stuck in hours of traffic, ask your guide to time it right where you see the sun beginning to set at Tanah lot but don't stay for the whole duration as it is insanely crowded. I definitely recommend this day! The scenery even during the drive was amazing. It was a fun-filled day completely full of culture. Highly recommend! Read more
I highly recommend this tour you get so much for your money... Fantastic experience and you get to see a lot of the country... It is a long day but we'll worth it. Our guide had so much knowledge and we learnt so much. Also we where able to stop when we wanted to see extra things. Again thank you.
