The annual Serengeti Migration of the wildebeest in Tanzania’s Serengeti National Park and Kenya’s Masai Mara National Reserve is one of the most spectacular wildlife events on the planet. Sometimes referred to as the ‘Greatest Show on Earth', the Great Wildebeest Migration is a movement of approximately 1.5 million wildebeest throughout the Serengeti and Masai Mara ecosystems in search of green pastures and water.
Arrive at the Kilimanjaro International Airport. You will be met by our guide at the Airport and transferred to the hotel in Moshi. Accommodation: Panama Garden Resort or similar hotel in Moshi. Room plan: Double Occupancy Meal Plan: Bed and Breakfast.
In the morning after breakfast, you will drive to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, and after registration, you will descend to the Crater Floor. You will do a full day of game drives at the floor and have picnic lunch at the Hippo poolside picnic site. After lunch, you will continue with game drives in the Crater floor in search of the rhinos, elephants, lions, buffaloes, zebras, impalas, gerenuks, etc. Ngorongoro Crater is also famous for birdlife and at the Lake makat at the middle of the crater floor you can see, flamingos, pelicans Egyptian geese, and many more aquatic species. After breakfast at your lodge, you will depart for the most famous and the first national park to be gazette in Tanzania; The Serengeti National Park. On your way, you have the chance to visit Olduvai- Gorge where human fossils were discovered by the Leakey’s family suggesting that mankind started in Africa. Inside the Serengeti, you expect to see lots of animals all year round but it is the Migration herds that amaze many a traveller. After breakfast in the morning, we will drive from Central Serengeti with game viewing on the way to Northern Serengeti, and continue with game drives at in the endless plains of Northern Serengeti until late in the evening when we reach the lodge for dinner and overnight. This day will be spent doing a game drive in Northern Serengeti areas including the Lobo area, the Bologonja areas and the Kogatende areas including a visit to the Mara River Banks on the Tanzanian sides to try and see the river crossing of the Wildebeests migration herds accompanied by some zebras and gazelles. During this time also many predators and big cats follow the animals to this area and so it is likely to see some spectacular wildlife actions like hunting. After breakfast in the morning, we drive back from Northern Serengeti through the Central Serengeti with game viewing on the way until Naabi Hill Gate where we check out of the Serengeti National Park. The tour we took with Eco-Africa climbing was actually one of our best experiences during our holiday. Frederick was a wonderful host - very helpful, very friendly and with his eco-african colleague and driver Freddie he gave us some Tanzanian memories we will never forget. He took us to local restaurants and bars, showed us Moshi and drove us to town whenever we needed to go. In the weekend he arranged a trip to Marangu. In the evening we cooked chagga (the local tribe) - food (pork with fried green bananas and salad) great to taste! and next days we went on a coffee-tour to see how you cultivated, dry and roast your own coffebeans, next we went to an underground chagga-cave and last we went to see a very beautiful waterfall!
